Job summary

Universal Health Services, Forest View Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI, seeks a Psychiatric Registered Nurse for the Weekend Nights shift. The role is part-time, 24 hours per week, with 12-hour shifts from 7:00am to 7:30pm, on a psychiatric unit serving adolescents and adults.

You will use the nursing process to assess, plan, and deliver care, with emphasis on safety and therapeutic milieu, and participate in discharge planning as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• 6–12 months of psychiatric nursing preferred.
• Current Michigan RN license.
• Basic understanding of psychiatric nursing theory.
• CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promotes a warm and welcoming environment with training, guidance, and support that aligns with patient care, safety standards, and policy. Responds respectfully and reports concerns promptly.
• Acts as back-up point of contact for direction of other unit staff when Charge is unavailable.
• Provides leadership to staff in crisis behavioral management.
• Uses the nursing process to develop an initial nursing treatment plan for admitted patients.
• Assesses, plans, and delivers care for patients with co-occurring disorders, eating disorders, and trauma backgrounds.
• Maintains a safe and therapeutic milieu with other personnel.
• Assists with discharge planning and collaborates with patient at discharge time.
• Provides leadership to staff in crisis behavioral management.
