Job summary

Health Ministries Clinic is seeking a Patient Service Representative to support providers by scheduling appointments, answering calls, and ensuring accurate patient information.

The role emphasizes confidentiality (HIPAA), teamwork, and bilingual ability in Spanish is preferred. Work Monday–Friday 8 AM–5 PM with benefits including health, dental, vision, PTO, 401K, and life insurance.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience in a medical setting is essential.
• Experience handling multi-line phones is preferred.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information (HIPAA).
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction is required.
• Bilingual Spanish is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Accurately enters a variety of information into the Electronic Health Record.
• Checks patients in for appointments and scans documents.
• Demonstrate courtesy and helpfulness toward patients and families.
• Manage appointments and monitor appointment status.
• Answer phones promptly and efficiently.
• Assist patients with registration forms.
• Verify insurance eligibility and sliding fee discount eligibility.
• Collect and record payments and co-pays.
• Support providers as needed.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.

Job description

The Patient Service Representative (PSR) works as a member of Health Ministries Clinic team in an integrated primary-care/behavioral health setting. The PSR assists providers to care for patients by scheduling appointments and taking phone calls for the clinic. PSRs do participate in staff meetings, and staff training as required for the job role. The PSRs work closely with patients to ensure the accuracy of their dental appointments, personal information, and billing information.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Accurately enters a variety of information into the Electronic Health Record.
• Accurately checks patients in for appointments and scans a variety of documents into system.
• Demonstrate courtesy, patience, and helpfulness toward patients and their families
• Manage appointments and stay informed of appointment status
• Answer phones promptly, courteously, and efficiently
• Assist patients with registration forms
• Enter patient information accurately in the electronic health record
• Verify insurance eligibility
• Verify eligibility for sliding fee discount schedule
• Collect and accurately record payments and co-payments for all services
• Assist providers as needed
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial, and legal information, including HIPAA
• Follow HMC policies and procedures

Qualifications:

• Minimum education: High school diploma/GED required
• 6 months experience as a medical receptionist or medical records clerk preferred
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information is required
• Experience with customer service and multi-line phones is preferred
• Computer knowledge, and ability to work independently with little direction requires
• Medical terminology/procedural knowledge strongly preferredbut not required
• Bi-Lingual ability in Spanish is preferred but not required for this role
