Job summary

A leading engineering company is seeking a PS Retrofit Proposal Engineer to join their team in Houston, Texas. Qualifications

• More than 7 years of experience in sales, tendering, or mechanical engineering is required.
• Certifications in Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.
• Fluency in English is required; Spanish or Portuguese is a plus.
• Strong communication, negotiation and leadership abilities.
• Familiarity with SAP and Windows/Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Define bid strategy and review project requirements.
• Prepare and submit proposals following company guidelines.
• Work with teams to create competitive solutions.
• Perform application engineering duties to prepare complete proposals, coordinating with service centers and sub‑vendors.
• Collaborate with Sales, Engineering and Operations to provide cost-effective solutions within Sulzer goals.
• Route costing to the best Sulzer solution and optimize costs for higher chances of award.
• Support cross-region requirements and prepare lost-bid analyses for issued proposals.
• Contribute to a culture of safe working, environmental protection, and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate handover of proposals/orders with Order Processing.

Position

PS Retrofit Proposal Engineer – Full Time – Houston (TX), United States

Services_AME-E524 is looking for a PS Retrofit Proposal Engineer to join our Services_AME team in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Review project requirements with Retrofit Specialist, Key account manager, and define bid strategy.
• Prepare and submit technical and commercial proposals in line with customer requirements, ensuring proposals meet Sulzer commercial guidelines and have necessary sign‑off in accordance with the Delegation of Authority.
• Obtain quotes from sub‑vendors for Mechanical Seal/Motors/Instruments and all other equipment/services.
• Perform application engineering duties in preparation of complete proposals, contacting appropriate service centers, parts manufacturing cells, sub-vendors and other Sulzer entities as required while clarifying specifications and other typical application duties.
• Work closely with Sales, Engineering and Operations to provide cost‑effective, competitive solutions in line with Sulzer financial objectives.
• Route requirement of costing to best solution available within Sulzer global portfolio and optimize costs for highest chance of award of the project.
• Support cross‑region requirements.
• Prepare lost‑bid analysis for issued proposals.
• Proactively engage and support company initiatives designed to promote a culture of safe working, environmental protection, and continuous improvement.
• Work with Order Processing to ensure smooth and efficient handover of proposals/orders.

Qualifications

• Work experience >7 years.
• Expertise in Sales/Tendering/Applications/Mechanical or Hydraulic Engineering.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.
• Languages: English (required); Spanish or Portuguese beneficial.
• Soft skills: Strong interpersonal and communication, supervisory experience, negotiation and influence, SAP, PC/computer proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office, ability to motivate subordinates, time management.
• Other: Industry and supplier network, understanding of competition offerings, cross‑cultural knowledge within the region.
