Job Summary
The Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner will rotate through a variety of clinical environments focusing on critical care medicine. They will train for six months prior to joining the Pulmonary Critical Care APC group. Training rotations include Surgical Critical Care, Medical Critical Care, Oncologic Critical Care, and Anesthesia. Other rotations may include Cardiology, Cardiac Critical Care, Nephrology, Oncology, Hematology, Bone Marrow Transplant, Radiology, Gastroenterology, Neurosurgery, Infectious Disease, and Palliative Care. Trainees will be embedded within academic teams at the University of Utah Hospital and affiliates. Hours vary based on rotations, typically averaging 40 to 80 hours per week. Upon completion of the training period, trainees will be required to complete a two-year commitment to the University of Utah Pulmonary Critical Care Division as a full-time employee.

Minimum Qualifications
Required: Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.
Preferred: Certification in ACLS / BLS / NRP / ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria. Utah State prescriptive privileges. Licensure is obtained by completing a Master’s degree in Nursing or equivalency (the only equivalency to the Master’s degree is current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a National Certification which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination. UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire. This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. We protect our patients, coworkers, and community by requiring all patient-sensitive employees to be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.

Preferences
Applicants with experience in critical care or internal medicine preferred. New graduates with exemplary clinical experience will be considered.
