Job Summary

CVICU Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated nurse practitioner or physician's assistant to join our cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVICU) team. The APP will provide advanced care and support to critically ill patients recovering from cardiac surgery, including management of mechanical circulatory support and heart/lung transplants. This role allows you to practice to the fullest extent of your scope and capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive assessments and physical exams of patients with cardiovascular conditions after cardiovascular surgery.
• Manage and coordinate care with a multidisciplinary team in the care planning and management of post-operative cardiovascular surgery patients.
• Familiarity with and management of vasoactive infusions, including titration of vasopressors and management of cardiogenic shock with inotropic infusions.
• Prescribe medications, order and interpret diagnostic tests.
• Provide critical care support including management of mechanical ventilation and mechanical circulatory support (MCS).
• Responsible for bedside procedures including arterial line placement, central line placement, pigtail thoracostomy tube placement, and intubation.

Minimum Qualifications

• Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification in ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS may be required by your department or privileging criteria.
• Utah State prescriptive privileges.
• Licensure obtained by completing a Master's degree in Nursing or an equivalent, and a National Certification.
• Application for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.
• Must fulfill all patient-sensitive employee requirements, including immunizations per CDC standards and hospital policy.

Additional Information

• Position: Full Time, 12, 13-hour shifts per month, with some night, weekend, and holiday requirements. No out-of-hospital call.
• Location: Campus, Department of Cardiothoracic Division.
• Pay Range: $107,411.20 - $166,483.20.
