Working Title: University Hospital Dental Clinic Manager, School of Dentistry

Work Schedule Summary: Monday – Friday, hours may vary based on clinic needs.

Pay Rate Range: $70,000 - $85,000

Job Summary

The University Hospital Dental Clinic Manager works with the goal of delivering a high-quality patient, resident, and team member experience to the School of Dentistry UH Dental Clinic. Strong focus on oversight of clinical business operations, quality assurance, system improvement, and clinic staff support and leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the supervision of daily operations of the clinic. Able to fill in when either front-end or back-end support is needed.
  • Ensures competency of clinic support staff through the development and/or presentation of educational programs and ongoing staff performance evaluations. Oversees recruitment, training, orientation, and professional development of staff in support of accomplishing clinical goals and mission.
  • Monitors patient quality assurance metrics and operational improvement plans.
  • Manages resident provider schedules to efficiently run daily operations.
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely patient access and efficient care delivery in operating and procedure rooms.
  • Leads budget planning efforts for the UH Dental Clinic and works with the Director, Finance & Accounting and Director of Clinical Operations to monitor and report on monthly clinical productivity and budget adherence.
  • Collaborates with clinical and finance leadership on clinical performance analysis, data management, and goal setting.
  • Collaborates with the clinic leadership on best practices and policies.
  • Analyzes and advises on new strategic initiatives and business opportunities.
  • Participates in University-wide committees to establish customer service standards and administrative plans and policies.
  • Monitors the appropriateness and effectiveness of patient care within the department in order to deliver outstanding service to both internal and external customers.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction by analyzing complaints, concerns, and suggestions and providing appropriate follow-through.
  • Responsible for ordering materials and supplies for the clinic and monitoring equipment and instrument performance.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of dental treatment workflows, and the ability to provide care as described in the School of Dentistry department’s policies and procedures manual.
  • Outstanding leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of dental clinic operations and billing.
  • Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
  • Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn new procedures and processes.
  • Able to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to develop relationships with patients, faculty, staff, and students.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four to six years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of hiring department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan, and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department. Completion of provided supervisory training within one year of employment may be required. Master’s degree in a related area may be preferred.

This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements.
