Job summary

Kids for the Future is seeking an Operations Specialist to support airfield operations, maintain the 24-hour AOC, and ensure security and compliance with NOTAMs, FAA inspections, and TSA requirements. This provisional, temporary appointment is under USERRA during military leave and does not confer permanent status.

The role involves monitoring EMS, air traffic communications, CCTV and access control, issuing IDs, coordinating with RGAAF, and handling fingerprints and STA processing.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• One year progressively responsible related experience required; or
• Two year college education with aviation management major preferred; or
• Any equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must have a valid Texas driver’s license by date-of-hire
• Employee must pass FBI background check by date-of-hire.
• Employee must pass a TSA Security Threat Assessment by date-of-hire.
• FAA dispatcher’s license or equivalent military aviation experience desirable.
• Must be able to work any shift or hours including overtime, weekends and holidays.
• Residence within 30 minutes driving time from Killeen City

Responsibilities

• Monitor the Energy Management System (EMS), air traffic control tower and ground radio communications, fire enunciator panel, CCTV, Access Control System, alarms and respond as required
• Maintain Airport Access Control System to issue identification badges, audit files and access media
• Act as duty airport manager on shift basis
• Maintain security logs, emergency phone alert lists, emergency checklists and SOPs
• Coordinate with RGAAF Operations to publish NOTAMs and updates
• Conduct airside FAA Part 139 inspections and landside inspections
• Process fingerprints and TSA STA

This position is being filled on atemporary basisduring the military leave of the incumbent employee. The selected candidate may be required to vacate the position upon the incumbent’s return from military duty. This provisional appointmentdoes not confer permanent status.

Operations Specialist

To perform work in support of airfield airside and landside operations while maintaining a 24-hour Airport Operations Center (AOC)

The employee will have the responsibility of:

Monitoring the Energy Management System (EMS), air traffic control tower and ground radio communications, fire enunciator panel, closed television cameras (CCTV), Access Control System, alarms, and responding as required

Maintaining Airport Access Control System to include issuing identification (ID) badges, auditing files and access media for correct information and updating and renewing access

Acting as duty airport manager on shift basis

Maintaining security logs, emergency phone alert lists, emergency checklists and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Coordinating with Robert Gray Army Airfield (RGAAF) Operations to publish NOTAMs and updates for the advisory system

Conducting airside FAA Part 139 inspections and landside inspections

Processing fingerprints and TSA Security Threat Assessments (STA)

The work environment will require the employee to:

Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds

Work near high noise level when working near aircraft levels and may be exposed to hazardous chemicals, aircraft fuel fumes, and moving mechanical parts

Required Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Graduation from high school or equivalent; and

One (1) year progressively responsible related experience required; or

Two (2) year college education with major course work in aviation management or closely related field preferred; or

Any equivalent combination of education and experience

Special Requirements:

Must have a valid Texas driver’s license by date-of-hire

Employee must pass a fingerprint-based FBI background check by date-of-hire.

Employee must pass a TSA Security Threat Assessment (STA) by date-of-hire.

An FAA issued dispatcher’s license or equivalent military aviation experience is desirable.

Must be able to work any shift or hours assigned, including overtime, weekends and holidays.
