Job summary

RPMGlobal is seeking an Airport Airside Operations Specialist to oversee airside, landside, and terminal operations at St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport.

The role requires coordinating flight operations, monitoring schedules, and ensuring FAA compliance, with duties that include NOTAMs, wildlife management, and security oversight. The position demands a bachelor’s in aviation or related field, plus several years in airport operations and a Florida driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in aviation or related field.
  • Airport operations management experience at a small hub airport with knowledge of 49 CFR Part 139 and 49 CFR Parts 1540/1542.
  • Five years' experience as described above; or an associate degree with three years experience; or a bachelor's degree; or an equivalent combination.
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid State of Florida Driver’s License.
  • Ability to work a variety of schedules including emergencies and disasters.

  • Compiles and monitors flight schedules and gate assignments.
  • Responds to all airport emergencies and coordinates safety and security programs.
  • Performs daily, nightly and special airfield inspections per FAA certification.
  • Oversees wildlife issues per Wildlife Hazard Management Plan.
  • Escorts contractors and other personnel without proper credentials.
  • Performs data processing and related duties, including data entry and retrieval.

Job description

Airport Airside Operations Specialist

Location: St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport, 14700 Terminal Blvd., Suite 221, Clearwater, FL.

Schedule: Rotating schedule, 24 hour department, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Performs administrative, and technical work in the airside, landside, and terminal operations of the St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport and a variety of important duties in developing and carrying out departmental programs to ensure effective passenger and public services.

***A 10-year criminal history records check will be completed to meet TSA requirements. A plea of guilty or adjudication withheld for a felony are considered convictions per TSA and will disqualify an individual from getting an Airport ID badge.***

  • Compiles and monitors flight schedules and gate assignments, responds to all airport emergencies, plans and coordinates airport safety and security programs, and implements and monitors noise abatement program;
  • Leads airport support personnel;
  • Coordinates daily flight operations;
  • Remains current with FAA regulations, ensures that the airport complies with regulations, and assists in the coordination of amendments as necessary;
  • Maintains and updates airport security manual and operations manual, as required, and Airport Certification Manual;
  • Assists management in planning, implementing, and programming and issues NOTAMs (notices to airmen) and pilot advisories as necessary;
  • Performs daily, nightly and special airfield inspections as required by FAA certification;
  • Oversees wildlife issues while meeting the requirements of the Wildlife Hazard Management Plan including the use of firearms and explosives to harass and depredate wildlife as required by the FAA certification;
  • Escorts contractors and other personnel without proper credentials to complete required work;
  • Performs data processing related duties including using statistical packages or programs, encoding data, data entry and retrieval, and routine computer terminal operations and programming/reprogramming;
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.
What Do You Need?

Education: A bachelor's degree in aviation or related field.

Experience: airport operations management experience at a small hub airport that includes a strong understanding of 49 CFR Part 139 and 49 CFR Parts 1540/1542.

  • Five (5) years experience as described above; or,
  • An associate degree as described above and three (3) years experience as described above; or,
  • A bachelor’s degree as described above; or,
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
Additional Requirements:
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid State of Florida Driver’s License.
  • Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
