Job Description
At Heart Aerospace we develop the ES-30, a regional hybrid-electric airplane with a capacity of 30 passengers, an electric zero-emission range of 200 km and an extended hybrid range of 400 km. Heart is targeting type certification of the ES-30 by the end of the decade.
Your mission
We are looking for a Prototype Workshop Technician to join our growing team. This is a hands-on role that combines mechanical and electrical assembly, prototype fabrication, and workshop development. You will support the build and integration of test rigs, sub-systems, and full-scale prototypes as we develop our electric aircraft. You’ll also play a critical role in setting up and maintaining our prototyping workshop, ensuring it is safe, functional, and efficient.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Prototype Assembly & Fabrication:
- Support the assembly of mechanical and electrical components for prototypes and test rigs.
- Assist with wiring, soldering, crimping, and integration of electrical systems and harnesses.
- Perform basic machining, 3D printing, and fabrication tasks (e.g., cutting, drilling, and fastening).
- Collaborate with engineers to build, test, and iterate on functional prototypes.
Workshop Development & Support:
- Help set up workshop infrastructure, including tools, benches, safety systems, and inventory.
- Maintain an organized and well-equipped workshop environment.
- Manage tool calibration, equipment maintenance, and consumable supplies.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Provide feedback on design for manufacturability and assembly (DFMA).
Skills & Requirements
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
- Technical diploma or equivalent experience in mechanical, electrical, or mechatronic systems.
- 3+ years of proven hands-on experience in prototype assembly (mechanical and electrical).
- Comfortable with hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have:
- Experience in an R&D, aerospace, automotive, or startup environment.
- Experience with CAD tools and/or fabrication techniques (e.g., CNC, welding, additive manufacturing).
- Familiarity with test instrumentation, DAQ systems, or low-voltage electronics.
