Job summary

Technique is seeking a Prototype Welding Technician at our Jackson, Michigan facility. You will progress welding with MIG/TIG on stainless and carbon steel, support QA with layouts and GD&T, and work under the Prototype Welding Manager.

Safety and adherence to procedures are essential. The ideal candidate has 2+ years in welding, AWS certification preferred, and the ability to read blueprints and CMM reports.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of welding experience in an industrial setting.
• AWS Certification preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T notation.
• Experience with prototype and fabrication welding, robotic welders, and CMM report interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate welding equipment.
• Identify materials and manage fixtures.
• Operate Projection Welder and adjust settings as needed.
• Perform 1st piece table layouts with basic GD&T understanding.
• Troubleshoot prototype welding builds and apply corrective actions.
• Process job folders and quality documentation for each build.
• Assemble and verify prototype fixtures prior to quality approval.
• Load and run robot welder in auto mode and repair assemblies as needed.
• Interpret CMM reports and troubleshoot to achieve first-piece success.
• Weld stainless and mild steel to AWS specifications (MIG and TIG).
• Use E2 to locate and manage information for daily operations.
• Develop and evaluate team members and participate in safety functions.
