Job summary

The Advance Group is seeking a Prototype Builder in Inkster, MI to fabricate welded fixtures for product development. You will set up welding equipment, MIG weld to AWS standards, and partner with customers, design, and other departments to deliver fixtures.

Ideal candidates read blueprints, use calipers and tape measures, and can work in a fast-paced environment. Overtime opportunities are available, with a schedule starting at 7:00 AM and occasional Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Must be able to MIG weld to AWS standards.
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints including basic weld symbols.
• Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs and stand for long periods.
• Must use Personal Protective Equipment required for Welders.
• Must have working knowledge of manufacturing welded steel products.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently.
• Willing to work in excess of 40 hours a week.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate welded fixtures to support product development.
• Set up welding machines based on the job and MIG weld as directed.
• Collaborate with customers, design and other departments to develop fixtures.
• Keep work areas clean and organized; maintain equipment and facilities.
• Follow all company rules and policies; maintain high attention to detail.
