Job summary

Uber Technologies Inc. is seeking an R&D Technician to join the AV Labs team in Sunnyvale. You will build, modify, test, and troubleshoot prototype data collection vehicles and hardware systems, turning engineering concepts into functional hardware through hands-on assembly, wiring, and rapid prototyping.

You will work closely with engineers to install sensors, test components, and document results while maintaining a safe, organized R&D space in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on technical experience in automotive, robotics, or similar hands-on environments.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with hand tools and power tools.
• Experience disassembling/reassembling vehicles or mechanical systems.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams and follow build documentation.

Responsibilities

• Build and modify prototype data collection vehicles and test hardware.
• Install cameras, LiDAR, radar, compute systems, networking equipment, and wiring.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems and CAN wiring; assist with vehicle integration issues.
• Document builds, modifications, issues, and test results; support engineering experiments.
