Job summary

Northern Tool + Equipment, a family-owned company, is seeking a Product Development Test Technician in Faribault, MN. You will support new product development, validate performance, and work with engineers to ensure quality and safety.

Responsibilities include testing, building prototypes, conducting DOEs, and maintaining test equipment. The ideal candidate has hands-on mechanical skills, problem-solving abilities, and strong documentation, with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or two-year technical degree in Engineering Technology or related field.
• At least one year of experience in product testing or related technical environment.
• Experience troubleshooting mechanical and/or electrical systems.
• Strong documentation, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Perform product testing and validation activities for new and existing products, including mechanical and electrical systems.
• Build, assemble, troubleshoot, and evaluate product prototypes.
• Execute product qualification and reliability testing programs.
• Develop and conduct Design of Experiments (DOE) testing to evaluate product performance.
• Design, build, maintain, and operate automated and manual test equipment.
• Identify product issues, investigate root causes, and recommend solutions.
• Collect, analyze, and document test data with accuracy.
• Create clear technical reports and communicate findings to engineers and leadership teams.
