Job summary

MW Components is seeking a Prototype Tooling Machinist for first shift in Corona, CA. You will set up and run manual milling machines, lathes, grinders, and related tooling to produce production tools. Work with engineering teams to ensure tooling accuracy, read blueprints and GD&T, and document inspections and maintenance.

The role requires strong math, precision measurement, and experience with CNC editing. On-site, full-time, with safety and quality at the forefront of daily operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Min 3 years’ experience, CNC operation & setup.
• Min 5 years of prototype tooling experience or mastery.
• Proficiency with machining math including geometry and trigonometry.
• Ability to use precision measurement tools with high accuracy.
• Strong understanding of materials.
• Technical/vocational machining training.
• Experience with basic CNC program editing.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual milling machines, lathes, grinders, and other machine tools.
• Operate conventional mills, lathes, drill presses, saws, and grinders.
• Work with engineering/manufacturing teams to create production tooling.
• Complete set-ups with minimal supervision.
• Read blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions.
• Select tools, fixtures, speeds, feeds for accuracy.
• Perform in-process inspections with calipers, micrometers, etc.
• Adjust machine settings to meet tolerances and quality.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and tool wear.
• Maintain production records and logs.
• Perform routine machine maintenance.
• Collaborate to improve processes.
• Comply with safety standards and ISO/AS quality.
