Job summary

MW Components, Inc. in Corona, CA is seeking a Prototype Tooling Machinist/Machinist II for first shift. You will set up and operate manual milling machines, lathes, grinders, and related tools to create production tooling.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints and GD&T, selecting tooling, and performing in-process inspections with precision measurement devices. Strong math, materials knowledge, and CNC editing skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience, including CNC operation and setup.
• Minimum 5 years of prototype and tooling experience or evidence of mastery.
• Proficiency with machining math, including geometry and trigonometry.
• Ability to use precision measurement tools with a high degree of accuracy.
• Strong understanding of materials.
• Technical/vocational training in machining.
• Experience with basic CNC program editing.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual milling machines, lathes, grinders, and other machine tools.
• Operate conventional mills, lathes, drill presses, saws, and grinders.
• Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to create production tooling.
• Complete set-ups and operate equipment with minimal supervision/assistance.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and work instructions.
• Select appropriate tools, fixtures, speeds, and feeds for efficient machining.
• Perform in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMMs, and other measuring devices.
• Adjust machine settings to maintain tolerances and meet quality standards.
• Troubleshoot machining issues, including tool wear, material inconsistencies, and programming errors.
• Maintain accurate production records, including job travelers, inspection reports, and equipment logs.
• Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure safe, reliable operation.
• Work collaboratively with engineering, quality, and production teams to improve processes.
• Comply with all safety standards, company policies, and ISO/AS quality requirements.
