Job summary

AM General is seeking skilled technicians to support prototype vehicle builds and modifications at our Auburn Hills facility. The role involves assembling, fabricating, and updating components using a range of metalworking tools and detailed prints.

You will assist in instrumentation, testing, and diagnosing powertrain, cooling, fuel, electrical, and HVAC systems. Candidates should have 1–3 years of relevant experience, a high school diploma or GED, and be capable of reading blueprints.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• 1-3 years of related technical experience is required.
• ASE certification preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Possess light fabrication capabilities and welding skills.
• CDL desired or willingness to obtain.
• Basic PC skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in timely completion of in-house experimental vehicle builds, rebuilds, and component modification projects.
• Fabricate parts from detailed prints or layouts using drills, shears, brake press, lathes, water jet, welding, and other metal forming tools.
• Assemble prototype vehicles and components using detailed layout drawings or verbal instructions.
• Modify and update components and parts by machine or hand.
• Assist in instrumentation installation and vehicle preparation for testing.
• Provide diagnostics for automotive systems and support testing.
