Job summary

AM General in Auburn Hills, MI seeks a skilled fabrication technician to join our production team. You will read blueprints, set up and operate equipment, perform layout and assembly of parts, and rework items per engineering changes to meet strict specifications.

The role requires 1–3 years of technical experience, ability to read blueprints, and welding skills (spot, TIG, MIG). A high school diploma or GED is required; ASE certification is preferred. CDL is a plus, or willingness to obtain it.

Responsibilities

• Determine dimensioning procedures and equipment from blueprints and instructions.
• Rework parts per changes in engineering or customer requests.
• Perform layout, fabrication, and installation for various parts and assemblies.
• Set up and operate equipment to complete fabrication tasks.
• Operate tools such as drills, shears, brake press, lathes, and Bridgeport.
• Verify final part against specifications before delivery to Quality.
• May perform spot, TIG or MIG welding on parts and assemblies.
• Develop tooling for initial and continued production support as required.
