Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking an experienced Machine Shop Manager to own the rapid prototyping shop at the Boston Development Center. You will lead precision fabrication and additive manufacturing, directing end-to-end execution of machined and 3D-printed components for hardware development in a high-mix, short-run environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years CNC machining experience with 3+ years leading a machine shop.
• Bachelor's degree or Journeyman Machinist certification.
• Hands-on CNC programmer or machinist with management experience.
• Proficient with CAM software and CNC controls.
• 5-axis machining, workholding design, and complex setup troubleshooting.
• Experience in prototype/high-mix/short-run environments.
• Strong GD&T and measurement instrument knowledge.
• Experience with additive manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day machine shop operations end-to-end: scheduling, prioritization, resource allocation, throughput.
• Hire, develop, and manage CNC machinists, programmers, and additive technicians.
• Coordinate job queues across concurrent engineering programs to maximize throughput.
• Review part designs for manufacturability and select machining strategies.
• Oversee CAM programming, setup verification, first-piece inspection, and tooling changes.
• Manage 3D printing/additive manufacturing operations and post-processing.
• Drive performance metrics and report shop performance to leadership.
• Maintain safety, 5S, PPE, and EHS standards; manage equipment maintenance and uptime.
