Job summary

Amazon is seeking an experienced Machine Shop Manager to own the rapid prototyping shop at our Boston Development Center. You will lead precision fabrication, multi‑axis CNC, and additive manufacturing to accelerate hardware development.

You will hire and mentor a team of CNC programmers and machinists, optimize scheduling, ensure first-piece quality, and drive safety and efficiency in a high‑mix environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years CNC machining experience with 3+ years leading a shop team.
• Hands-on background as CNC programmer or machinist who moved into management.
• Experience with 5-axis machining and complex setups.
• Proficiency with CAM software and CNC controls.
• Experience in rapid prototyping and high-mix, short-turnaround environments.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end machine shop operations, scheduling, and throughput.
• Hire and develop CNC machinists, programmers, and additive technicians.
• Coordinate multi‑program engineering projects, prioritize work to maximize throughput.
• Review part designs for manufacturability and select machining strategies.
• Manage CAM programming, setups, inspections, and tool offsets.
• Direct additive manufacturing operations, build scheduling, and post‑processing.
