Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a Sheet Metal Fabrication Technician - Prototype Development to turn engineering concepts into finished hardware. You will work from CAD drawings, develop flat patterns, and progress through cutting, forming, finishing, inspection, and delivery on prototype programs.

Initially you may start with drawings or concepts and grow to own manufacturing decisions, tool selection, bend sequences, setups, and troubleshooting with engineers.

Qualifications

• Able to read technical drawings, sketches, models, or fabrication instructions.
• Experience or training in sheet metal fabrication, welding, machining, or related discipline.
• Familiarity with basic shop math and precision measuring tools.

Responsibilities

• Build prototype sheet-metal hardware from concept through completion using drawings, CAD models, work instructions, and collaboration with engineering.
• Develop flat patterns and bend sequences considering material type, thickness, bend radius, springback, and geometry.
• Set up, program, and operate fabrication equipment as training progresses (CNC press brakes, waterjets, lasers, punches).
• Select tooling, establish setups, adjust processes, and troubleshoot issues affecting quality or manufacturability.
• Perform secondary operations including deburring, drilling, tapping, countersinking, and finishing.
• Inspect work continuously, identify issues early, and correct or escalate problems before parts move downstream.
• Collaborate with engineers on formability, bend relief, hole-to-bend spacing, and other DFx considerations.
• Cross-train on additional machines and processes to respond to changing program priorities.
• Maintain fabrication areas and equipment following safety requirements.
