Job summary

Lila Sciences in Cambridge, MA is seeking a Microfabrication Scientist on the Vacuum Synthesis team to prototype devices and probe novel materials. You will lead cleanroom processing, including thin-film deposition, lithography, etching, and metrology, contributing to materials science programs focused on predictive design of new material families and functional thin films.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on cleanroom experience in R&D or manufacturing.
  • Deep expertise in thin-film deposition and recipe troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in photolithography, etching, and deposition.
  • Experience with metrology and characterization tools in process development.
  • Track record of implementing novel fabrication flows.

Responsibilities

  • Design and fabricate prototype devices and test structures for novel materials.
  • Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot thin-film deposition recipes.
  • Execute cleanroom processes including lithography and etching.
  • Characterize films and devices using profilometry, ellipsometry, SEM, and electrical probing.
  • Integrate fabrication into automated, high-throughput workflows.
  • Translate goals into manufacturable steps in collaboration with scientists.
