JTEKT North America in Plymouth, MI is seeking a Prototype Manufacturing Engineer to lead and perform activities for building prototype systems focused on Electric Power Steering products. The role involves internal test parts and customer prototypes for vehicle and bench testing, plus tracking time, materials, and costs.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical or Materials Eng – required.
• 2+ years related automotive experience – preferred.
• Mechatronics experience – desirable.
• LabVIEW/ Visual Basic experience – desirable.
• Vector CANalyzer/CANoe/CANape experience – desirable.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate prototype builds between NA Technical Center, Sales and Program Management.
• Manage prototype build schedule and resources.
• Ensure integrity of prototype builds using inspection data and test results.
• Lead or support prototype QA activities (incoming/outgoing reviews).
• Manage/archive build and inspection data for records.
• Work with Purchasing to order parts for builds.
• Develop and maintain prototype build processes and work instructions.
• Assist in managing prototype shop growth.
• Collaborate with Advanced Purchasing & Manufacturing to source local prototype suppliers.
• Provide technical support for prototype quotes to customers.
• Promote collaboration between US and Japan prototype build departments.
• Create technical presentations and reports.
• Work overtime and weekends as needed to complete duties.
