Job summary

Lucid Motors in Newark, CA seeks a Power Electronics Prototype Builds Technician to support the assembly, validation, and continuous improvement of prototype electrical and mechanical systems. The role collaborates with cross-functional engineering teams and uses Jira for build tracking and documentation.

The position involves reviewing engineering drawings, BOMs, ECOs, and ensuring builds use the latest approved documentation, plus maintaining quality, traceability, and lab readiness throughout

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of electrical circuits, wiring, PCB handling, and mechanical assembly principles.
• Experience supporting prototype manufacturing within fast-paced engineering development environments.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement practices.

Responsibilities

• Build and integrate complex prototype electrical and mechanical assemblies per drawings and evolving design requirements.
• Execute prototype builds from incoming materials through final validation, ensuring quality and traceability.
• Perform low-voltage electrical integration, PCB handling, subsystem installation, functional verification, and rework.
• Diagnose assembly issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions with cross-functional teams.
• Support Engineering, Test & Validation, and Manufacturing during builds, validations, launches, and urgent priorities.
• Use Jira to document progress, deviations, inspection results, and test documentation with traceability.
• Review drawings, BOMs, ECOs, and ensure builds use the latest approved documentation.
• Maintain documentation and engineering traceability per prototype development requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, throughput, and efficiency.
• Support fabrication, modification, and rework of prototype components with engineering feedback.
• Maintain lab readiness and organize tooling, inventory, and work areas using Lean/5S.
• Operate safely around electrical systems following EHS and quality practices.
• Assist onboarding and training of new technicians, promoting standardized build processes and quality.
• Support multiple prototype programs concurrently while adapting to evolving priorities.
