Job Description

Manufacturing Specialist’s role will focus on optimizing machining processes, troubleshooting production challenges, and improving efficiency in a high-mix, low-to-medium-volume manufacturing setting. The ideal candidate has extensive hands-on experience with CNC machining, tooling, and process optimization, along with a strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles.

Required Skills

· Knowledgeable in creating and editing CNC Programs for Vertical Machining Centers(with 4th Axis or Trunnion) with the use of MasterCAM software. Horizontal Machining Centers and 5 axis machines is preferable.

· Knowledgeable in Setup and production of CNC machine with Fanuc and Haas Controls: 5-axis machining, 4-axis machining: Horizontal machining center, indexer; Vertical machining centers, lathe, or high-precision components

· Proficient in print reading.

· Must have good knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) for English and Metric system.

· Must have good knowledge of ASME Y14.5.

· Knowledgeable in various methods of inspection to perform quality checks on the parts and quality control practices.

· Must be detail oriented.

· Able to work quickly and efficiently without the need of supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on technical expertise in machining, fabrication, and assembly processes to ensure efficient production.
  • Program, set up, and troubleshoot CNC machines, lathes, mills, and other precision machining equipment to improve cycle times and product quality.
  • Develop and optimize machining processes to increase productivity, reduce costs, and improve repeatability.
  • Work closely with operators, machinists, and engineers to resolve technical challenges and enhance manufacturability.
  • Assist in the design, selection, and maintenance of cutting tools, fixtures, and workholding solutions to improve machining efficiency.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies to minimize waste and maximize output.
  • Collaborate with customers, engineering, and production teams to ensure seamless project execution and meet quality expectations.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for quality issues and process inefficiencies.
  • Train and mentor machinists, technicians, and junior engineers on best practices in machining and manufacturing.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards (ISO 9001, AS9100, etc.), and customer requirements.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) and work with engineering teams to transition prototypes into full-scale production.

Education / Experience / Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in a machine shop, contract manufacturing, or precision machining environment.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC programming (G-code, CAM software like Mastercam, Fusion 360) and machine setup.
  • High competence in reading and interpreting Inspection Results. Deep knowledge of CMM operation and CMM programming is a plus.
  • Experience with tooling selection, fixture design, and machining process optimization.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, GD&T, and engineering drawings.
  • Strong understanding of materials (metals, plastics) and machining techniques for different applications.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems for job tracking and production planning.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
