Job summary

Hydrogen UK Ltd in Irvine, CA seeks a Prototype Trim Technician to support an automotive seat laboratory. The role involves hands-on cutting, sewing, and assembly of prototype seating, using patterns and engineering specs to deliver accurate trim components.

You will work on trim cutting, industrial sewing, and prototype seat builds, ensuring fit, finish, and documentation meet strict quality standards. On-site 6-month contract with typical 8–hour day schedule.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years in automotive seat trim or related upholstery or manufacturing.
• Experience cutting and sewing complex patterns to tight tolerances.
• Experience building complete automotive seats or upholstered assemblies from components to finished products.
• Strong experience operating industrial sewing machines and trim equipment.
• Ability to read patterns, drawings, specifications and work instructions.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret trim patterns and cutting layouts to meet specifications.
• Cut leather, fabric, vinyl and trims accurately to patterns.
• Sew components, attach foam, scrim and reinforcement as required.
• Assemble seat components and install trim covers onto cushions and backs.
• Record production results and quality concerns; maintain clean work area.
