Job summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) seeks a Project Engineer to lead the Advanced Aircraft Engineering team on prototype aircraft and special projects. You will guide design from requirements through flight testing, coordinating across disciplines to ensure program objectives are met.

You will manage teams, develop execution plans, and oversee supplier engagement, manufacturing transitions, and technical documentation to support cutting-edge unmanned aviation programs.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a bachelors, masters or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience: six+ years with a bachelors, four+ years with a masters, or two+ years with a PhD.
• Ability to quickly understand new concepts and apply them in a dynamic environment.
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Hands-on experience with composite structures including design, stress analysis, materials/process development, or manufacturing.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead teams of engineers to develop prototype aircraft and special projects.
• Coordinate across Structural Design, Loads Development, Flight Technologies and more.
• Develop requirements, internal SOWs, and project estimates for varying scopes.
• Oversee supplier and manufacturing coordination including SOWs and data packages.
• Lead cross-disciplinary teams with execution plans aligned to schedules and budgets.
• Provide technical presentations and documentation as needed.
