Syngenta invites you to join the Bioinformatics Team as a Protein Design Intern in Durham, NC. You will work with a high-performance team to develop computational protein design methods, rank candidates, and analyze protein variants using sequence- and structure-based approaches.

This Emerging Talent Program offers hands-on experience, exposure to daily operations, and opportunities to apply academic knowledge to real-world challenges while developing professional skills. May 2027–August 2027.

Qualifications

• Pursuing MS/PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, structural biology, biochemistry, CS or related field.
• Proficiency in Python and basic Bash scripting.
• Familiarity with protein structure concepts and prediction methods.
• Experience with Linux/Unix environments.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Apply computational protein design methods to generate novel candidates and minibinders.
• Rank and filter candidates using predicted structure and metrics.
• Analyze designed proteins and interfaces.
• Run tools in Linux, HPC, or AWS environments.
• Develop scripts for data processing and workflow automation.
• Document workflows and present findings to teams.
• Collaborate with scientists to refine design strategy.
