Job description

Position: Security Officer

Shift: FT 4p-2a Norwood, great benefits! Shift differential for evenings or nights!

Responsibilities:

  1. Patrol buildings and grounds to deter/prevent law and policy violations.
  2. Post-up at specific locations when assigned to ensure the safety and security of patients, parents, visitors, and team members.
  3. Maintain communications with the Communications Center and other Protective Services personnel by two-way radio, phone, and other communication devices.
  4. Ensure that only authorized personnel are admitted onto hospital premises; contact unauthorized persons to determine service needs, ask questions, re-route or detain as appropriate.
  5. Report safety and fire hazards observed on routine patrols and inspections; look for violations of Joint Commission, OSHA, NFPA, and Fire Code safety violations.
  6. Respond to and investigate routine and/or urgent complaints reported by patients, parents, visitors, and team members and implement service recovery as appropriate.
  7. File appropriate documentation by the end of the shift; conduct follow-up investigations as directed and file appropriate reports.
  8. Emergency response to distress calls, panic alarms, and emergency calls for disorderly conduct, disruptive persons, or combative patients within 3 minutes of activation.
  9. Assist clinical staff with patient restraint; monitor combative or potentially combative patients as directed.
  10. Direct traffic within TriHealth campuses and control parking of all patients, parents, visitors, and team members.
  11. Enforce hospital parking rules and issue parking violations to illegally parked vehicles.
  12. Provide help in times of emergency and stress; act as a liaison and partner with police and fire agencies as needed.

Job Requirements:

  1. High School Degree or GED.
  2. 1-2 years Technical experience in Criminal Justice, Private Security, Police experience, or Military preferred.
  3. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  4. Current Private Security handgun certification or ability to obtain certification within 45 days of hire.
  5. Valid Driver's License with no more than 4 driving points recorded on a motor vehicle report.
  6. No prior DUI/DWI convictions within the last 5 years.
  7. No major moving violations convictions.

Other Related Information:

An officer must be willing and able to protect him/herself from harm using education and tactics following use of force policies. An officer must be able to protect staff and patients from harm; officers must carry a firearm at all times. When conducting business for TriHealth Corporate Security, officers must conform to Corporate Security Policies concerning defensive equipment.
