Qualifications

• High School Degree or GED is required.
• 1-2 years of technical experience in Criminal Justice, Private Security, Police experience or Military preferred.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Current Private Security handgun certification or ability to obtain certification within 45 days of hire.
• Valid Driver's License with no more than 4 driving points.
• No prior DUI/DWI convictions within the last 5 years.
• No major moving violations convictions.

Responsibilities

• Patrol buildings and grounds to deter/prevent violations and ensure safety of patients, visitors, and staff.
• Maintain communications with the Communications Center and Protective Services personnel by two-way radio, phone and other devices.
• Control access to hospital premises and escort authorized persons; detain unauthorized individuals as needed.
• Complete required safety and incident reports by shift end and participate in shift huddles.
• Be prepared for On-Call assignments and possible reassignment to other locations and schedules, including weekends/holidays.
• Respond to emergencies, assist clinical staff, and act as liaison with police and fire agencies.

Job Overview:

Officers must be a minimum of 21 years of age. Responsibilities to include:

Patrol buildings and grounds to deter/prevent law and policy violations. Post-up at specific locations when assigned. To ensure the safety and security of patients, parents, visitors, and team members. Maintain communications with the Communications Center and other Protective Services personnel by two-way radio, phone and other communication devices. Ensure that only authorized personnel are admitted onto hospital premises; contact unauthorized persons to determine service needs, ask questions, re-routing or detainment appropriate to the facts known at the time. Report safety and fire hazards observed on routine patrols and inspections; look for violations of the Joint Commission, OSHA, NFPA and Fire Code safety violations. Officers may be assigned On-Call responsibilities and may be reassigned to other locations and work schedules including weekends and holidays as needed to fulfill mission of department.

Respond to and investigate routine and/or urgent complaints reported by patients, parents, visitors and team members and implement service recovery as appropriate. File appropriate documentation by the end of the shift. Conduct follow-up investigations as directed and file appropriate reports by the end of the shift. Pass on information to others during shift huddles. Emergency Response to distress calls, panic alarms and emergency calls for disorderly conduct, disruptive persons or combative patients within 3 minutes of activation. Assist clinical staff with patient restraint; monitor combative or potentially combative patients as directed. Physically restrain patients as instructed by the appropriate clinical staff members. Respond to safety emergencies; evaluate the situation and act appropriately with TriHealth policy guidelines. Serve as a source of authority; constantly maintain high visibility. Provide help in times of emergency and stress. Act as liaison and partner with police and fire agencies as needed.

Direct traffic within TriHealth campuses and control parking of all patients, parents, visitors and team members. Enforce hospital parking rules and issue parking violations to illegally parked vehicles. Escort patients, parents, visitors and team members to and from parking areas as needed. Control access for TriHealth entities and perform all necessary locking and unlocking within the various buildings and grounds. Enter and maintain current information in all Security logs and forms. Act as a resource of information for patients, parents, visitors and team members. Provide information, including directions and parking. Enforce TriHealth policies and procedures.

Other Related Information:

An officer must be willing and able to protect him/herself from harm using education and tactics following use of force policies. An officer must be able to protect staff and patients from harm any threat officers must carry a firearm at all times. When conducting business for TriHealth Corporate Security officer must conform to Corporate Security Policies concerning defensive equipment.
