Job summary

Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) in Caribou, Maine is seeking a Child Protective Services Caseworker. You will perform professional social work in child protection, engage families to assess safety, and build teams with community resources to ensure safe solutions for children.

Successful candidates must have a Bachelor's in Social Work or related field with licensure eligibility (LSW) per Maine Board, and you will work with travel within the district to protect children and

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in social work or related field with at least 12 behavioral/social science courses.
Eligible for conditional or full licensure as a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) in Maine.
Background check and licensure verifications as required.

Responsibilities

Perform professional social work in child protection, services, and adoption.
Engage families to assess safety and plan for safety, well-being and permanency.
Create a team of family, staff, and community resources to support safe solutions.
Reach factually supported safety decisions with input from families and stakeholders.
Assess child safety, abuse, neglect, family strengths and functioning.
Separate unsafe caregivers from children when court action is needed.
Develop plans focusing on safety, family preservation or permanent placement.
Maintain accurate case records and required reports and letters.
Follow laws, mandates, policies and timeframes to ensure safety and permanency.
