Job summary

Duquesne Light Company, headquartered in downtown Pittsburgh, seeks an Engineer II – Protection to perform protection-related activities for projects of moderate complexity, ensuring safe, reliable installation and operation of facilities. This role requires 2+ years of related experience, a B.E. in Electrical Engineering, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 2+ years of related experience.
• Valid driver’s license; ability to travel to multiple locations.
• Utility or similar experience preferred.
• Professional Engineer license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create and review protection recommendations and short circuit studies for moderate projects.
• Ensure compliance with NESC, NEC, ANSI, IEEE and DLC standards; review with management before issuing recommendations.
• Provide studies, design and technical support for DLC operations and external consultants.
• Upgrade facilities and improve system reliability; implement changes.
• Support changes in equipment performance, codes, regulations, and safety practices.
• Prepare reports and presentations for engineering management.
• Communicate engineering concepts clearly to engineers, technicians, and others.
• Provide NERC compliance support (PRC-002, 004, 006, 023, 027).
• Storm team duties as assigned.
• Perform other job-related duties.
