Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced field service technician to install, test, and maintain protective relay equipment and RTUs at client sites in Texas. You will interpret wiring diagrams, perform end-to-end testing, and communicate progress and issues with clients.

The role requires extensive travel, overtime when needed, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards. Relevant certifications and a fit-for-duty physical are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience with SEL microprocessor relays and associated protection equipment.
• Familiarity with RTUs, SCADA systems, and telecom/field installations.
• Ability to read and interpret one-line and wiring diagrams for protection schemes.
• Must pass background checks and field safety trainings.
• Strong documentation and client communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, test, and maintain protective relay equipment and RTUs.
• Test protection circuits for transmission lines, transformers, and feeders.
• Perform RTU and telecom upgrades for clients.
• Review and submit test reports for regulatory and client purposes.
• Travel extensively to client sites and work overtime as needed.
• Interpret diagrams and identify discrepancies; document findings accurately.
• Complete time and expense reports and maintain safety compliance.
