K&A Power Group in Rochester, NY is seeking a Protection & Controls Engineer to lead design on capital projects for utility clients. You will review relay settings, Goose diagrams, and coordination strategies, and work with Aspen models and TM standards.

The role requires a BSEE, 7+ years of relay protection experience, proficiency with MicroStation and AutoCAD, and PE preferred. Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relay and protection settings engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) and utilities knowledge.
• Proficient with MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
• Experience in Substation Design including general arrangements and layouts.
• PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead protection design for capital projects per Avangrid TM standards.
• Review relay settings, Goose diagrams, and operational descriptions.
• Coordinate area protection and determine required coordination.
• Review contractor relay settings for temporary builds and construction steps.
• Provide Aspen model input for individual projects.
• Support design during implementation, testing, and commissioning.
• Feedback on TM standards and refine design practices.
• Ensure as-built documentation is filed appropriately.
• Lead automation and integration design for capital projects.
• Review SCADA point indexes and HMI settings.
• Track licenses, firewalls, and key deliverables.
