Job summary

Georgia Power seeks Protection & Control Field Services Engineers/Technicians for the Rome/Canton area (Rome TMC). Roles cover P&C field services in substations and transmission facilities, with emphasis on safety, switching procedures, and project execution to prevent outages.

The positions require a 4-year engineering degree or equivalent, P&C experience, and the ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders. Relocation assistance may be available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology or equivalent experience.
• Professional Engineering License or related credentials.
• 2-year technical degree in electrical maintenance or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Commissioning, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting protective relaying, controls, and communication equipment for substations and transmission lines.
• Complete construction and substation routines, ensuring no service interruptions and effective outage management.
• Coordinate substation outages and commissioning activities with stakeholders; handle trouble calls as needed.
• Develop safe work practices to prevent incidents; conduct job briefings to identify and mitigate risks.
• Share technical expertise in 3-phase power, relaying, SCADA, and testing techniques with peers.
• Isolate hazards and damaged equipment during emergencies to restore service quickly.
