Job summary

Hitachi Energy USA Inc. is seeking a Controls Design Engineer to design and develop advanced control and monitoring solutions for power transformers.

You’ll collaborate with engineering, software, and project teams to elevate performance, efficiency, and safety in mission-critical systems. You will refine detailed control designs, generate schematics and wiring diagrams, and lead commissioning activities from startup to tuning.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field.
3+ years in controls or panel design in an industrial setting.
Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and EPLAN.
Strong knowledge of electrical schematics, PID control, and motor control.
Familiar with IEEE, UL508, NFPA 70 standards.
Basic knowledge of EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, and Modbus TCP/IP.

Responsibilities

Develop and refine detailed control system designs for power transformers.
Produce electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts using CAD tools.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate hardware and software.
Execute commissioning activities including startup, calibration, and tuning.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues with control equipment.
Prepare clear technical documentation.
Participate in design reviews to ensure quality, compliance, and safety.
Ensure compliance with external and internal regulations and guidelines.
