Job summary

The New York Power Authority (NYPA) is seeking Protection & Controls Engineers at early-career and mid-career levels to design, analyze, test, and maintain protection and control systems for transmission and generation assets. You will contribute to relay settings, fault analysis, and field inspections that ensure reliable operation across NYPA’s grid.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 0-6+ years of P&C or power system engineering experience depending on level.
• EIT preferred at higher levels

Responsibilities

• Assist with design modifications, equipment applications, failure analysis, testing, and protection system studies.
• Perform site visits to observe construction, perform inspections, collect data, and provide basic technical support.
• Support development of relay settings, oneline reviews, device evaluations, and communication system interfaces.
• Conduct system disturbance analysis and support recommendations for protective relaying adjustments.
• Participate in interdisciplinary coordination required for successful project execution.
• Develop engineering calculations, evaluation reports, and technical documentation under guidance.
• Provide support to maintenance groups, including reviewing job packages, verifying work completion, and ensuring safety procedures.
