Job description

We are seeking experienced Protection & Control (P&C) Field Testing and Commissioning Engineers to support high-voltage substation projects across transmission, distribution, and generation environments.

This is a travel-heavy, hands-on field role focused on testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and documenting critical protection relay and control systems. Candidates must bring deep experience with relay testing on high-voltage substations and strong knowledge of industry standards and safety practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform testing and commissioning of Protection & Control systems on high-voltage substations
• Execute hands-on protective relay testing using Omicron CMC 256/356 or Doble F6150
• Test and commission relays including:
• GE L90, GE D60, and similar platforms
• Conduct control scheme testing, CT/PT circuit verification, relay calibration, and static/dynamic testing
• Support Project Leads and Field Supervisors on active job sites
• Complete Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and strictly follow all safety requirements
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and logic diagrams
• Accurately document test results and generate formal field reports
• Manage administrative tasks including timecards, expenses, and project documentation

Required Experience & Skills

• 5+ years of electrical field testing experience on substations
• Proven experience testing high-voltage P&C relay systems
• Hands-on proficiency with SEL, GE, Basler, and Beckwith relay families
• Strong experience using Omicron or Doble relay test equipment
• Familiarity with NETA, IEEE, NFPA, and other applicable standards
• Experience across voltage classes ranging from 15 kV to 500 kV
• Working knowledge of testing software: ( ProTesT , Protection Suite, ENOSERV RTS, Omicron, Test Universe, Acselerator)
