Job summary

MBC Talent Connections in Bryan, Texas is seeking a junior electrical engineer to design protection, control, and physical layout projects for utility substations, from new builds to upgrades. You will work both independently and with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

You will produce one-line and wiring diagrams, BOMs, panel layouts, grounding plans, and perform calculations such as voltage drop and conduit sizing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of 1 year of relevant engineering experience.
• Strong ability to interpret and analyze electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control drawings; proficiency with industry-standard engineering software.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and review protection & control documentation, including one-line and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs and panel layouts.
• Create physical layout designs, including grounding plans and conduit/raceway layouts; perform calculations such as voltage drop and conduit sizing.
• Collaborate with internal teams, project managers, external contractors, and clients to meet technical specs, budgets, and scheduling deadlines.
• Conduct site evaluations and prepare detailed scopes of work.

In this role, you will work both independently and collaboratively to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Protection & Control Design: Develop and review critical design documents, including one-line and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and bills of materials (BOM).
• Physical Layout Design: Create electrical profiles, grounding plans, and conduit/raceway layouts. Perform essential engineering calculations, such as voltage drop, conduit fill, and breaker sizing.
• Project Collaboration: Work closely with internal engineering teams, project managers, external contractors, and clients to ensure projects meet technical specifications, budget targets, and scheduling deadlines.
• Field Work & Planning: Conduct site evaluations and prepare detailed engineering scopes of work.

Candidate Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution. Exceptional candidates with a master's or doctorate in electrical engineering may be considered with less practical experience.
• Experience: A minimum of one year of relevant engineering experience.
• Technical Skills: Strong ability to interpret and analyze electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control drawings. Proficient with industry-standard engineering software.
• Core Competencies: Detail-oriented with strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Travel: Ability to travel up to 10% for project needs.
