Job summary

Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis seeks an intermediate-level Dental Assistant to support dentists during procedures, prepare patients, and manage sterilization and workflow. The role includes taking radiographs under supervision and patient pre/post-op care.

Requirements include a high school diploma, 1 year of related experience, and Indiana X-Ray licensing; Dental Assistant certification is preferred. This is a full-time on-site position with comprehensive IU benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED) is required.
• 1 year of assisting in applicable specialty is required.
• Indiana X-Ray license required upon date of hire; Dental Assistant certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide chair side assistance by passing instruments and handling suction; assist during procedures.
• Assist in administration of local anesthetic.
• Take and monitor patients' blood pressure and vital stats.
• Prepare patients for surgery and provide post-operative care and instructions.
• Instruct students on taking digital radiographs and cone beam scans.
• Ensure instruments and equipment are sterilized and ready for procedures.
