UNM Hospital in Albuquerque seeks an entry-level Orthotics Technician in CTH Orthotics to fabricate simple prosthetic and orthotic devices, assist higher level technicians, and help patients achieve maximum medical improvement across age groups from Neonate to Geriatric. On-the-job training is provided.
You will cast, finish, and assemble devices, manage supplies, uphold safety standards, and participate in ongoing professional development.
This position requires mechanical hand skills.
Receive 17% Weekday Nights, 26% Weekend Nights and 15% Weekend Day shift differentials

Fabricate simple prosthetic/orthotic devices to provide maximum medical improvement for patients with musculoskeletal conditions. Assist higher level prosthetic/orthotic technicians and orthotist. This is an entry level position which provides on-the-job training. Ensures adherence to Hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures. Patient care assignment may include; Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups.
Essential:
Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
