Job summary

Michigan Medicine is seeking a Development Research Analyst to partner with Office of Development gift teams, gathering, analyzing, and summarizing information to support cultivation and solicitation of major prospects. The role requires on-site work three days per week and involves managing own workload while assisting leadership.

Responsibilities include identifying fundraising opportunities, producing research documents, and creating data-driven insights with dashboards for development

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required, preferably Information Science or Humanities.
• At least three years of related work experience and two years in prospect development or fundraising.
• Strong written and oral communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Commitment to ethics and confidentiality in donor information handling.
• Ability to interact with executive-level clients and navigate unfamiliar information systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, relational databases, online databases, and the Internet.

Responsibilities

• Assess and meet prospect information needs for assigned gift teams to support fundraising goals.
• Consult with development officers to determine feasibility and scope of research requests; negotiate timelines.
• Lead regular meetings to maintain an active pipeline of requests and monitor progress toward MM goals.
• Write confidential research documents for development staff and senior executives.
• Synthesize data into key metrics and create visualizations and dashboards for stakeholders.
• Provide internal training and mentoring on research techniques and policies.
