Qualifications

• 2+ years of prospect management and research experience.
• Proficiency in common prospect research tools (or equivalents) and methods.
• Experience interpreting wealth screening results and donor data.
• Familiarity with data analysis or visualization tools preferred.
• Familiarity with AI tools and confidential constituent data handling.

Responsibilities

• Preparing profiles, reports, and lists to support donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
• Rating and qualifying new donors and prospects, including wealth screening reviews.
• Assisting in portfolio allocations and managing portfolio size and composition.
• Identifying prospective donors locally and nationally through proactive research.
• Developing relationship maps and visual materials to aid engagement.
• Maintaining electronic files and ensuring data hygiene in Raiser's Edge.
• Using AI tools to support research, monitoring, and reporting workflows.

Job description

A full-time (hybrid) position for a Prospect Management and Research Coordinator is available in the Development Department at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center. The Prospect Management and Research Coordinator plays an important role on the Development team by providing the research, analysis, and reporting needed to help the development team cultivate relationships with current supporters and identify potential partners in the community and nationally. Reporting to the Director of Development Operations, the individual in this role supports fundraising efforts by conducting research, analyzing data, and utilizing available information sources (internal and external) to help the team prioritize activities and outreach.Responsibilities:Preparing written profiles, event biographies, reports, and lists to support the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors and prospectsRating and qualifying new donors and prospects, including capacity analysis and the review of wealth screening resultsAssisting in making recommendations for allocating new prospects to portfolios, and helping manage portfolio size and compositionIdentifying prospective donors locally and nationally through proactive research using various techniques including list review, network mapping, wealth screening, and news and electronic alert monitoringResearching local and national high-net-worth prospects to support the Center’s efforts to broaden its philanthropic base of supportDeveloping relationship maps that connect board members, volunteers, and other supporters to prospects, and preparing visual materials to support gift officer and volunteer engagementDeveloping, maintaining, and circulating reports related to prospect/moves management, proposals/solicitations, and ad hoc reports tailored to the needs of fundraisers, using Raiser’s Edge data, wealth screening results, and other analytics tools as availableMaintaining comprehensive electronic files for supporters, including accurate contact and biographical information in Raiser’s Edge; researching updated addresses for returned mail; and performing data hygiene and bulk updatesUsing AI tools to support research, monitoring, and reporting workflows, in accordance with Danforth Center policy and professional prospect research ethics standards for data privacy and source verificationAs part of the development operations team, serving as a backup related to gift processing, acknowledgment, and other database pulls as neededOther duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:2+ years of prospect management and research experienceDemonstrated skills, knowledge, and experience in best practices of prospect research and managementDemonstrated proficiency in common prospect research tools (or equivalents) and methods including: ResearchPoint, FoundationSearch, 990 Forms, SEC filings, property records, AlumniFinder, and capacity analysisExperience interpreting wealth screening results and analyzing donor data; familiarity with data analysis or visualization tools preferredExperience with relationship mapping or network visualization a plusFamiliarity with AI tools and responsible handling of confidential constituent dataProficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPointDemonstrated proficiency with Raiser’s Edge NXT or other fundraising CRMsDemonstrated ability to synthesize complex information into clear and concise written reportsDemonstrated strategic, analytical, and organizational skillsAbility to manage competing prioritiesStrong work ethic, attention to detail, time management, and interpersonal skillsLives the Danforth Center values: Collaboration, Diversity & Inclusion, Innovation, Integrity & Respect, Environmental Sustainability, and StewardshipMinimum qualifications (or the equivalent combination):Bachelor's degree preferred2+ years of prospect management and research experienceTo apply, please provide the following:Cover letterResumeWriting sample of prospect briefThree references with contact information.
