Job summary

Divergent in Los Angeles seeks a Principal Propulsion Test Engineer to design, build, and operate propulsion test infrastructure, from bay design to first fire. You will own mechanical, fluid, controls, and instrumentation systems; lead test campaigns, collaborating with EH&S, Performance Engineering, and software teams to deliver safe, repeatable, data-rich tests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Experience designing, building, commissioning, and operating propulsion or mechanical test systems.
• Strong collaboration with technical and functional teams during test events.
• Expertise in high‑pressure fluid systems, instrumentation, and high‑speed data acquisition.

Responsibilities

• Deliver propulsion test stands from concept through commissioning.
• Design structural hardware and high‑pressure fluid systems for safe testing.
• Coordinate test readiness reviews for safety, instrumentation, and limits.
• Deliver high‑fidelity test data via instrumentation and DAQ systems.
• Commission and operate propulsion test systems during engine test campaigns.
• Analyze results with Performance Engineering to improve engine performance.
• Automate test operations to increase reliability and throughput.
