Job summary

Isar Aerospace in Los Angeles is seeking a Propulsion Test Design Engineer to lead design, maintenance, and upgrades of liquid rocket engine test facilities and ground support equipment. You will drive performance improvements, develop safe procedures, and collaborate with engineers and technicians on test campaigns.

The role requires hands-on development or testing experience under extreme conditions, ability to design from concept to commissioning, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• Relevant engineering qualification or engineering bachelor's or master's degree in aerospace, mechanical engineering or similar.
• Hands-on experience in development or testing of complex systems under extreme conditions such as cryogenic temperatures, high pressures, or high temperatures.
• Capable of designing fluid and mechanical systems from concept to commissioning.
• Able to perform in high-stress environments with sustained focus.
• Physical dexterity for confined spaces and ability to lift 25kg.
• Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute maintenance, modifications, and upgrades of propulsion test facilities to support test campaigns.
• Monitor, analyse, and improve performance, reliability, and availability of facility systems via data analysis and troubleshooting.
• Design, build, and commission test benches, test equipment, and facility upgrades.
• Develop and improve procedures, risk assessments, and operational processes for safe test operations.
• Perform fault investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions on facility systems and test equipment.
• Support test preparations, commissioning, test execution, and anomaly resolution with test engineers, operators, and technicians.
