Job summary

BETA Technologies is seeking an aerospace systems engineer to lead design reviews, system integration, and verification activities for electric aviation programs. You will work across software, electrical, mechanical and certification engineers to ensure requirements-based testing and regulatory compliance.

The role requires an undergraduate engineering degree and 3+ years in aerospace systems or aircraft development, with experience in SAE ARP4754A/ARP4761 and regulatory frameworks.

Qualifications

  • Experience with SAE ARP4754A, ARP4761 or equivalent structured development processes.
  • Experience with development of requirements-based testing for complex electronic systems.
  • Familiarity with Title 14 CFR Parts 23, 25, 27, 29, or 33 and regulatory interactions.

  • Perform propulsion system and component requirements development and validation.

A candidate for this position should have an engineering degree in a relevant discipline with an appreciation for structured development processes. The ideal candidate has 5 years of experience in aerospace system or aircraft development which include complex electronics and software. The candidate should be comfortable collaborating with an interdisciplinary team including, software, electrical, mechanical and certification engineers. The ability to communicate clearly with other engineers and regulatory authorities is essential to be successful in this role. Responsibilities include conducting design reviews, validation and verification activities, inter and intra system integration .

The candidate should expect to contribute as a team member to establish, manage and ensure compliance to the customer, regulatory, aircraft and system level requirements including demonstrating compliance through safety assessment.

How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:
  • Perform propulsion System and Component requirements development and validation
  • Conduct system integration activities such as interface definition, hardware and software test support and system to system integration testing
  • Plan, coordinate and execute verification activities with various engineering disciplines
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in mechanical, electrical, software, aerospace or systems engineering
  • 3 years of experience performing SAE ARP4754A, ARP4761 or equivalent processes
  • Experience with title 14 CFR parts 23, 25, 27, 29, or 33
  • Experience with development of requirements-based testing for complex electronic systems
  • Demonstrated proficiency working within a structured development process
Above and Beyond Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in systems engineering
  • 10 years of relevant aerospace industry experience
  • Experience with certification of traditional engines
  • Experience with motor control and inverter design would be valuable
  • Experience with MathWorks’ tools such as MATLAB and Simulink for model-based development
  • Experience with embedded control systems
  • Experience with Polarion or equivalent Application Lifecycle Management tool

The wage listed here reflects our best faith estimate for this role. Compensation
$100,000—$135,000 USD
