Shield AI seeks a Propulsion Performance Engineer to own engine calibration and performance for V-BAT propulsion. You will drive ECU tuning, test plans, and data analysis from bench to flight tests, impacting torque, power, and fuel efficiency across the operating envelope.

The role requires hands-on experience with reciprocating engines, dynamometer testing, and ECU configuration, with a focus on delivering reliable propulsion performance for high‑end aerospace platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 2–3 years in mechanical or aerospace engineering with engine performance focus.
• Hands-on experience with reciprocating engines (4-stroke or 2-stroke).
• Experience with ECU configuration, fuel maps, ignition timing, and injector phasing.
• Ability to analyze torque, power, and fuel consumption data.
• U.S. Citizenship or ITAR compliance ability.
• Experience with dynamometer test cells and data acquisition systems.
• Proficiency in Python or MATLAB for data reduction and tooling.

Responsibilities

• Own engine calibration strategy and testing plans across bench and flight test.
• Define test plans, calibration methodology, and acceptance criteria.
• Perform ECU configuration and tuning to optimize performance and efficiency.
• Analyze results and drive corrective action with engineering teams.
• Lead troubleshooting and root-cause investigations for engine testing.
• Develop calibration documentation and reporting for milestones.
• Support performance model refinement for propulsion and vehicle.
