Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a Propulsion Performance Engineer to own engine calibration and performance for the reciprocating engines powering the V-BAT platform. You will drive test plans, ECU tuning, and performance analysis across bench and flight tests.

You will work hands-on with engine hardware, fuel injection systems, and engine test stands, reporting on torque, power, and fuel efficiency while identifying calibration improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 2–3 years in engine performance or calibration.
• Hands-on experience with reciprocating engines.
• Experience with ECU configuration and engine calibration.
• U.S. Citizenship or ITAR compliance.

Responsibilities

• Define test plans and calibration methodology across dynamometer, bench, and flight tests.
• Configure and tune ECU, fuel mapping, ignition timing to optimize performance.
• Analyze torque, power, and fuel consumption to drive design changes.
• Lead troubleshooting for engine testing with development and production teams.
• Interpret test data to validate performance against requirements.
• Participate in design reviews and cross-functional discussions.
• Develop calibration documentation and reporting for milestones.
• Support refinement of propulsion models and test campaigns.
