Job summary

Varda Space Industries is seeking a Propulsion Engineer I to own propulsion hardware and subsystem architecture for our fleet of spacecraft. You will size components, develop propulsion software tools, review data, and support both ground and orbital operations.

The role includes mechanical design work, stacking analysis with ANSYS/NASTRAN, and creating engineering memos. You’ll work in a fast-paced cross-disciplinary team focused on growth of current and future in-space vehicles.

Qualifications

• BS in Aerospace Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
• Hands-on propulsion or fluid systems design, build, or test for spacecraft/launch vehicles
• Experience with flight fluid systems components and instrumentation
• Ability to read and author P&IDs; CAD/PLM familiarity
• Ability to author operational procedures for ground tests or flight campaigns
• Demonstrated ownership of technical tasks and driving to resolution

Responsibilities

• Maintain propulsion system baseline documentation (P&IDs, system docs)
• Design, analyze, and test propulsion hardware and components
• Upgrade propulsion systems on vehicles to improve reliability and cadence
• Support requirements for future vehicles and contribute to plans
• Generate propulsion performance analyses and key requirements for teams
• Develop Python scripts to automate recurrent analyses
• Perform detailed propulsion hardware design and FEA analysis
• Assist in-flight propulsion operations and anomaly investigations
