Job summary

Rocket Lab USA in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Propulsion Design Engineer II to design engine components for the Archimedes and Neutron programs. You will collaborate with experts to create, verify, and deliver propulsion hardware from concept to production.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, 2+ years in propulsion or related fields, and solid knowledge of heat transfer, fluids, structural mechanics, and FEA (ANSYS Workbench).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Strong foundation in heat transfer, fluids and structural mechanics.
  • Proficiency in finite element analysis using ANSYS Workbench or similar.
  • Mastery of mechanical design principles.
  • Understanding of design for manufacturing and GD&T.
  • Experience developing and maintaining engineering design best practices.
  • Experience taking parts/systems from concept to production.

Responsibilities

  • Design engine systems to meet performance, quality and manufacturability requirements.
  • Develop and own mechanical design solutions for propulsion systems.
  • Perform trade studies and design reviews from concept to production.
  • Collaborate with fabrication teams to bring hardware to fruition.
