Varda Space Industries in El Segundo, CA is seeking an experienced Propulsion Components Engineer to own the design, qualification, and flight readiness of fluid propulsion components for the W-Series bus. You will interface with suppliers and lead make-versus-buy decisions while expanding in-house design capabilities.

The role is hands-on with test stand development, production support, and cross-disciplinary collaboration across propulsion, structures, thermal, avionics, and GNC teams.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering; 3–6+ years experience typically.
• 3+ years hands-on experience designing, qualifying, or owning fluid components for spacecraft or high-pressure hardware.
• Familiarity with sealing, force balance, spring sizing, and wear in component design.
• CAD and detailed drawings with GD&T per ASME Y14.5; tolerance analysis.

Responsibilities

• Serve as responsible engineer for propulsion component portfolio across development, qualification, production and flight.
• Design Varda-owned propulsion components with CAD drawings, GD&T, and analysis.
• Source/purchase components; lead supplier reviews and corrective actions.
• Lead ATP/QTP campaigns and document results with test reports.
• Support build, integration, test, and flight operations; investigate issues to root cause.
• Represent components in design reviews and risk analyses; contribute to knowledge base.
• Mentor engineers and help set design and testing standards.
